So I just nerded out because it looked like the buildings would have their own train station in the new proposal. This is not based in any sort of reality, it just got me excited and caused me to laugh at myself. lol

I had no idea that they were creating new streets as part of this project. Are Mill & Main (1& 2) owned by the same developer as Pillsbury? Is this whole block going to be cohesive?

I don't think they're adding any streets, though it looks like they're rebuilding a piece of 5th Ave SE by expanding parking along it and renaming it "Mill Street SE".

I suppose you could call that section of 5th Ave SE a street in its current incarnation. At least there's a public right of way there, if not much in the way of actual street.

I don't recall if Prince Street (the former rail corridor splitting the Pillsbury parcel) becomes public or quasi-public in these plans.

Oh, I thought 5th was gone. Any idea on the ownership? This whole block looks pretty interesting.

The parcels facing Main St. are split between Doran (Mill & Main) and Dominium (A-Mill properties).

I agree it's not as exciting as earlier proposals that included several residential towers, but appears high quality and always hope that taller buildings can be built behind. Not sure - but also appears to add some retail/restaurant space along Main Street. That was my only grip with Phase 1. Would like more activity stretching from Riverplace to Stone Arch Bridge....

Two guys in buckets were power washing the facade as I walked by today. This thing looks pretty good, and it looks like they're ready to finish up the final exterior work. I took quite a few pics.

It's Mr. Sparkle from SparkleWash! (For the Simpsons fans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnaLRbbc-54) :)

I really like the red and orange brick on the East part of the building. Reminds me of old clay brick/tile. I haven't been up close to this one, is the transition between the different brick materials "working"? From the pictures it seems like a whole lot of change from the red brick to the stone, to the white brick? Change is good, right? Idk I think I need to see it. I love this area!

It's a rainbow of colors!

Whatever happened to the 520 2nd St SE (Stone Arch II) project? I was excited about that one when it was originally proposed, but I haven't heard a thing about it in quite a while, and it's right behind this project.

They're working on it - progress seems to be pretty slow, as most of the work is still below grade.

I believe the last picture posted here actually shows part of the Stone Arch II project. Very slow, yes.

From Biz Journal. "Doran Cos.' new Mill & Main apartment project opened up for a group of invited guests and tenants Thursday afternoon"

70% leased already. Phase two construction will start late July or early August of this year.

Full article and 15 Pictures. http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/b ... ge_gallery

This looks like a great place with nice views of downtown. The view in picture 4 may not be the best for most people but for us into this website and development not too bad at all.

Dang, the section with the glazed endicott tripple brick looks SO good. And what a great homage to the materials used on the silos.

There are people living in here even though it's not quite finished yet. Does this get the "best project lately" award? I love the embedded rails in back.

I'm not sure they should get credit for embedding the rails, since that was a condition for HPC approval. Pretty sure they wouldn't have done that left to their own devices.

2nd during
3rd before
4th different view of completed

The sames be done out in sacramento ca. embedded railroad rail for decoration where there used to be active/abandoned tracks.
Looks sorta nice but an active track would be cooler!
