At the HopCat opening. Missed the "free crack fries for a year" card, but got their free Grand Opening glass. Really cool looking place.

The former Forum, aka Goodfellows, aka Il Foro, will soon become David Fhima's home for Bistro 373 as he decamps from the Galtier.
Rick Nelson's article... http://www.startribune.com/chef-david-f ... 437384243/St. Paul and Lowertown has been our home for 18 years. You welcomed us with open arms and we became family. Over the past 6 months, since the moment we closed our doors for a remodel, we have worked tirelessly, sparing no expense or effort, in order to stay in the building. In the end, an agreement to terms could not be made, at least not one that made sense to our business, our staff and our family. It is with tremendous sadness that we must close our Faces doors. Our customers, too many to mention, have created so many memories alongside our family and staff: those will always be in our hearts! The gratitude we feel cannot be expressed in words. Although gone in address, the memories of our loyal customers and supporters will linger forever.
Fortunately, there is good news. We have moved our operations (restaurant, bar, bakery, events and catering) to downtown Minneapolis in the historical and stunning space once known as the Forum Cafeteria. In the next few months, we will be using the space as an event center and bakery while designing Bistro 373 the restaurant. Yes, we kept the name to keep our ties to you. When we tell the story of how the name “Bistro 373” came to be, we will tell the tale of our time in St. Paul. Our new tag line LA BELLE ÉPOQUE, is just that, a beautiful era filled with optimism, peace and innovations. We can't wait to see you at Bistro 3.7.3. in 2018 and remember, we are open for events and catering. Also, we will remain active on social media, watch for all the upcoming details. From our deeply appreciative family to you, this is not goodbye, simply… Merci, a bientôt

Man, the whole "$15 min wage is going to make every single restaurant move from Minneapolis to St. Paul" thing didn't last very long.

This is exciting. They also sound like a place worth visiting once they open.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Isn't Fhima also under contract to run some of the high roller spaces in the renovated Target Center? There may be some synergy there.
Edit: Yeah, should have read the article first.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
World Cafe in the Soo Line building has closed. This is not terribly surprising given that one of the things I liked about going there was that it was never too busy, but I enjoyed the Thai curry.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Per the Strib, Haute Dish has closed.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
I assume in the same way that we can use every single restaurant opening to refute the impacts of the minimum wage, we can use every single restaurant closing to trumpet the impacts?Man, the whole "$15 min wage is going to make every single restaurant move from Minneapolis to St. Paul" thing didn't last very long.

Yep. That was actually why I came to this thread, but I see you beat me to it.

Indoor smoking ban killed the Minneapolis restaurant scene.

Absolutely loved their brunch. Best breakfast potatoes in the city. Dinner menu had gotten really stale though. The bar in this place is too awesome for someone to not bring in a new concept at some point.Ahhh that's too bad, I really liked that placePer the Strib, Haute Dish has closed.

Apparently Baja Sol has closed all locations. They were evicted from City Center for unpaid rent.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Not really related to downtown restaurants specifically, but this quote from the article...
Out of all of those, Noodles & Co is the only one I would call fast casual.More than 1,000 fast casual restaurant locations have closed since 2016, including Applebee’s, Joe’s Crab Shack, Old Country Buffet, Noodles & Co., Subway, Outback and Ruby Tuesday.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
And even then los end fast casual. Meanwhile, I was at DC's union station, where they now have Shake Shack, Roti, Chop't, Potbelly and Chipotle that weren't there last time I was (it's been years).
Point being, brands like these come and go.

But is the Sbarro still at Union Station? I have fond memories of that place.
