L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
A green roof, that's excellent! I happen to be in the area the other day and I noticed that they still haven't started under residential portion.

The land sale for the first phase of residential was supposed to happen at the end of April with building permits being issued at the beginning of this month. I don't see anything on the city of Minneapolis permit page for the 2225 E Lake parcel but I'm not sure if the apartment permits would be on that parcel or another one (though it's still one parcel in Hennepin County GIS)

Concrete barriers and construction fencing were going up this morning at the site of the new MPS building (SW corner of 21st & Lake).

Anyone know what is going on with the residential portion of L&H station? Last time I was by it looked like all the construction equipment had left.

Different contractor etc between phases but they were planning to have started construction already I think, so who knows what the delay is there.
Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
They've started work on the new MPS building. The pile driver has assisted my alarm clocks the past few mornings. Unfortunately the construction trailer has been already covered in graffiti...something the neighborhood struggles with.

Crane is up at the MPS site. At L&H across from the YWCA there were plumbers this morning on the ground floor retails space. Hopefully the space has been leased.

A trailer was dropped off at the old school district site, and someone was marking buried lines this morning, so there may be something happening here finally.
Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
I hope something is starting soon. The new school site if rising so it'll be nice to keep everything else moving.
Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
Equipment and crews on site this morning.
Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
The first stage of apartments is up to 5 or 6 stories on top of the parking podium and will be market-rate/semi-affordable. A newsletter from the neighborhood association reported that the second stage is coming and if my memory serve me correctly the second stage would be two buildings at once within the next couple years.

Must have missed this. I did not know they had started on the Apartment phase. Thats great that they are moving along.

Anyone have any recent photos of the area? Have been out of town for about four months and would love to see some.

I don't have any photos, but they are placing the external cladding on the MPS building and the second phase of the apartments building next to the county building is pretty much at height and gaining external cladding. They probably will all be complete by end of summer.

Any news on when the AUdult Basic Education building will come down? I know they are building its replacement a few blocks away.

Not that I'm aware of. Given that it's still going to be a few months to finish the current building I'm guessing perhaps Late Fall early Winter? Another neat note, you can see these new buildings from the top of the Marshall Ave hill in St. Paul.

That’s awesome! Can’t wait to get back to town and see it. Will definitely get some pictures and put them up on the site.

For the phase 1 of housing at the L&H site they built up the east side first. That side has been topped out for a month or so and there is already a lot of siding on. They are putting up the top level of the west side right now, I'm guessing it will be done by next week. The building is scheduled to start having tenants move in on December 1st.
The new MPS building a couple of blocks up Lake is coming along too. The have most of the windows in and bricks covering about 60% of the exterior. The project is on schedule and should be complete by late November.
I can take and post pictures of these when I walk the dog tonight.
