North Loop Green - 350/360 N 5th St - 35 stories - 393'/418'
Re: North Loop Green - Hines - 350 N 5th St(?) - 35 stories - 393'/418'
By sheer coincidence, the Twins are replacing their scoreboard before the 2023 season. I'm gonna guess there's a 99% chance it significantly if not completely obstructs the view of the field from the new building. The entire project also begs the question of how the Pohlad family let a different developer acquire this property.

One bummer about this project is that I'd always thought there could be a cool opportunity to activate the backs of the N 3rd Avenue buildings here. In fact, I think some of the early Twinsville plans promoted this idea.
But the way this project turns a block long blank face to this alley is going to make sure this never happens.
It will be interesting to see if they promote/improve the pedestrian access from 3rd Ave to the new below-viaduct park space.

Here's a rendering of the rooftop view looking towards Target Field, they make it look like a nice view!. I think they are just replacing the LED panels, I don't expect the size of the scoreboard to change. They would have to completely redo the structure holding up the scoreboard and it doesn't sound like that is the plan.By sheer coincidence, the Twins are replacing their scoreboard before the 2023 season. This is quite off topic, but did everyone see this quote at the end of the Strib article,By sheer coincidence, the Twins are replacing their scoreboard before the 2023 season. "There remains difficulty staffing the concession stands. Hoy said that Delaware North, the ballpark's concessions operator, has been busing workers from Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Louis for Twins' homestands. The concessionaire has been holding job fairs, offering $500 signing bonuses and benefits to try to entice workers."
Wow. Really interesting.

I'm sure they've tried everything but raising wages and providing benefits.

That's nothing new. Here's an article from April 2016 about it which they caught enough flack for that they stopped it but clearly it's something they'd rather do than just make the job more appealing. This is quite off topic, but did everyone see this quote at the end of the Strib article,By sheer coincidence, the Twins are replacing their scoreboard before the 2023 season. Heavy dirt moving on this site, with some vertical beams (not a future part of the building, something construction related) going up along the edge of 5th Street. This project is going to completely transform this entire area.

I live like 2 blocks from this project, I am very excited to see it go up!

That might be the largest parking lot downtown going bye bye! Now we need to get rid of the one across from the Loon!

Per the CPC packet, the project will have 532 car parking spaces (for 339k office square feet, 20.9k commercial square feet, 356 housing units, and 96 hotel units). The recently departed lot had 351 car parking spaces. So this project will add 181 parking spaces to downtown, but obviously add a great deal more relative activity.

That is the space in the building. The parking will also serve nearby buildings that had people parking in the old lot.Per the CPC packet, the project will have 532 car parking spaces (for 339k office square feet, 20.9k commercial square feet, 356 housing units, and 96 hotel units). Confirmed in a Strib article today, it is a full replacement of the scoreboard. The new screen will be the same height as the current one, but significantly wider by taking up the space currently occupied by static ads for Best Buy, Treasure Island, etc. It doesn't sound like that would impact views from off-site much, if at all. Here's a rendering of the rooftop view looking towards Target Field, they make it look like a nice view!. I think they are just replacing the LED panels, I don't expect the size of the scoreboard to change. "Details aren't yet final but Twins expect the main video display to increase to nearly 57-feet high and 178 feet wide, capturing what is now adjacent static advertising. The current board is the same height but only 101 feet wide. The team says the new board will be in place for the 2023 season, is 76 percent larger and will feature "life-like quality of HDR imaging."

Cranes are up for this. Should be fun to watch while at a Twins game.

With the how the cranes align with the foul pole in that picture, it looks like they're inside the stadium!Cranes are up for this. Should be fun to watch while at a Twins game.
