It was just announced that redevelopment plans for the old state hospital are moving forward. The renovated facility will include apartments, a hotel, spa, and restaurants, among other things:

Big win for preservationists!
The Kirkbride- Fergus Falls
Re: The Kirkbride- Fergus Falls
This building is astonishing... I'm very hopeful they're able to make a go of this.
Re: The Kirkbride- Fergus Falls
Very good. IIRC, this is the last Kirkbride that hasn't been either repurposed or torn down. Good to see that ours will be one of the ones sticking around.

Re: The Kirkbride- Fergus Falls
Very cool proposal. I had honestly never heard of a "Kirkbride" before. Hopefully they decide to rename Incinerator Road before the grand opening! I assume there is an acutal incinerator somewhere in the vicinity.
I was surprised to find that the Google car made it out there: http://goo.gl/maps/72fw0 (link is to overhead view, you'll have to streetview on your own) I have family in Osakis and it looks like Fergus (as the locals call it) is just an hour away. I might actually have to check this out if the grand plans come to fruition.

They actually do tours of the building as-is. Might be more worth seeing now, as it is pretty much as it was built.

Very good news. Possibilities for the hospitals in Anoka?
Re: The Kirkbride- Fergus Falls
It was mentioned in the Northstar thread that the three buildings that have yet to be renovated are likely to be demolished shortly. Apparently they're in pretty bad shape.Very good news. Possibilities for the hospitals in Anoka?

Apparently the developer is not giving specifics to the city, and there's a high risk most of the buildings will end up getting demolished by the city.

Could you be more specific?

Sievert explained that the information doesn’t actually have any value.
“That’s all fine and good … you could send me an email and say ‘Hey, I’m worth $10 million.’ Well, how the hell do I know?”
Mayor Hal Leland agreed that Willey has not provided enough information.

Re: The Kirkbride- Fergus Falls
The city has officially broken off talks with the developer because they haven't been responding in a timely manner and have missed deadlines.
